His short film ‘The Birthday Treat’ won best film at the BFM International Film Festival and the Audience Award Screen Test Birmingham. In addition, it was nominated for best comedy at the Portobello Film Festival London. He followed up that success by being in the regional finals for a BAFTA short film competition.
He also created and directed a TV commercial for the Kisslive campaign. The commercial received such great reviews from industry and public alike that Dean had a guest spot on the ‘Kiss Breakfast’ morning show to talk about the commercial. His latest film ‘The Bridge’ is creating an equal amount buzz through the industry and we are sure awards will follow.
Before this, Dean worked freelance—notably at MTV as a producer, where he worked on a music magazine program entitled MTV Base Live from Uganda. Where he was entrusted by this global music television brand to bring to life a flavour of urban music from the African continent.
Despite his recent achievements, Dean still takes great pride in having started his media career working at Bloomberg TV as Director/Camera person filming in various locations such as Paris, Frankfurt, Basel, Helsinki and Algiers to name a few of many high profile assignments.
Bloomberg is where Dean first cut his teeth—Directing and filming the essential background material on a program called Money Maker Profile. Here, he was trusted with working with some of Britain’s most high profile personalities such as; Sir Bob Geldof, Sir Richard Branson, Sir John Caldwell, Sir Michael Heseltine, Lord Browne, and the late Anita Roddick which aimed to delve behind the media persona and really get to grips with what actually makes these personalities who they really are.
